This quick treat is only 100 calories for a fudgy mug brownie!

100 calorie mug brownie with nutrition info

I tested several boxed brownie and cake mixes and measured portions to stay within daily calorie goals. For most mixes, 2 tablespoons of dry mix equal roughly 100 calories. That makes it easy to portion a single mug brownie (or mug cake) without guesswork.

This portion-control trick has saved me more than once when I wanted a treat but didn’t want a pan of brownies sitting around. The key with this mug brownie is to enjoy it immediately: it’s best hot and fresh from the microwave. Right out of the oven it’s rich, fudgy, and chewy. Left to sit, however, it will quickly firm up and become rubbery, so plan to eat it right away.

If you like a little extra, adding about 20 calories of whipped topping makes this even more indulgent without adding much to the total. It’s a tasty option if you don’t need to be strict with every last calorie.
