Home Renovation Update: Progress, Costs, and Before & After Photos

House Update! Part 2! As most of you know, we’re building a house in PA. I’m writing this update so I have a record to look back on and to share details with anyone else who is building or curious. Here’s the latest.

The framework should be up within the next 4 to 8 weeks. I’m so excited! Our current target move-in window is November–December. If we can spend Christmas in our new home, that would be wonderful.

The Exterior

This image shows the exterior look we chose, though we’re adding a multi-generational suite on the main level for my parents. That addition will extend the right side significantly, next to the garage, so imagine this elevation a bit wider. Below is the planned extension beside the garage:

For the finishes, we selected a brick option paired with Sterling Gray siding:

We also reviewed additional exterior samples during selection:

For accents we chose a midnight blue front door and a black granite-style roof:

I can’t wait to see the framing go up and watch the house take shape. While I’m eager to move in, quality and safety come first—if it takes longer to ensure the house is built correctly, I’ll wait.

House Update

We are building with Toll Brothers, and our experience with their team has been positive so far. I receive weekly check-ins and updates from our project manager. Due to current circumstances, I haven’t met him in person yet, but communication has been consistent.

Building during a pandemic has added challenges, yet I remain grateful to the construction crews and everyone contributing to this new neighborhood. Their dedication makes a huge difference. I’ll share more updates as construction progresses.
