Every blog has to begin somewhere, and what better day for a first post than Leap Day — a day that comes around only once every four years? Welcome to Fed and Fulfilled. I’m Joanna Smith, and I’m so glad you stopped by.

I started this blog as a New Year’s resolution for 2016. At first it felt like an impulsive idea, but talking it over with my husband made it seem possible. I didn’t know much about running a blog — let alone a food blog — and that uncertainty felt intimidating. Still, I’ve always loved beautiful food photos, creative recipes, and the way food brings people together, so I decided to give it a try.

Over the last five years I’ve faced health setbacks, emotional challenges, and dietary changes that reshaped how I eat and cook. Along the way I adapted favorite recipes and developed new ones that fit a gluten-free, mostly paleo approach. Cooking and entertaining have long been joys for me; this blog is simply a virtual extension of that passion.

Fed and Fulfilled is where I’ll share recipes, stories, and insights from my health journey. I’m excited to post recipes soon and to dig deeper into what I believe and how I cook. I’ll be learning as I go, so I welcome your feedback, questions, and ideas — your input will help shape this space.

I owe a lot to the blogs and resources that inspired me as I learned the ropes. They provided guidance, encouragement, and practical tips that helped me take this leap. I’m also grateful to my husband, Mark, whose support has been invaluable.

While there isn’t a recipe in this first post, I do want to ask you something:
