This post is brought to you by The Last Lumenian Series. All opinions are my own.
I’ve loved reading since childhood and often came home from the library with piles of books. My free reading time is more limited now, so when I do sit down with a book I want it to be worth it. That’s why I picked up The Last Lumenian Series by S.G. Blaise—and why I kept turning the pages.

The series contains two books, The Last Lumenian and True Teryn, and blends science fiction and fantasy in an engaging way. Instead of a medieval past, these stories unfold in the future on other worlds, yet they retain the hallmarks of fantasy—magic, mages, royalty, and castles. The combination feels fresh and entirely believable within the author’s crafted universe.
If you’re hunting for a compelling new read, here are several reasons these books deserve a spot on your shelf.
1. The pacing is excellent — you won’t get bored. Both novels move quickly and maintain momentum. For me, reading is an escape, and I don’t want the narrative to stall and pull me back into daily stresses. These books avoid that by keeping scenes concise, often skipping forward in time in ways that advance the plot naturally. Chapters frequently end on hooks that make it hard to stop: action and emotional stakes are balanced so you remain absorbed in the main characters’ journeys.
2. A strong, relatable protagonist. The heroine, Lilla, is an empowering presence. Though she’s a princess in a culture that expects her to be sidelined, she models resilience and purposeful change, following the example set by her mother. Her struggles with panic attacks are portrayed candidly from the start. As someone who experiences anxiety myself, I appreciated seeing a protagonist who faces panic yet continues to act and lead—an authentic and encouraging depiction.

3. Romance is well-balanced and enjoyable. The books include a romantic thread that complements the broader story without overpowering it. Because the series blends genres, there’s room for relationships to develop naturally and from a female perspective. The romance adds warmth and humanity alongside the speculative elements: when Lilla meets Callum, her reactions are often funny and endearing, bringing levity and heart to the plot.
4. Rich worldbuilding across multiple settings. These novels offer a genuine escape while still touching on themes that feel relevant. The cultures and worlds are distinct enough to transport you away from everyday life yet familiar enough to relate to on an emotional level. The series invites immersion in new environments, from political intrigue to mystical systems, keeping the experience varied and engaging.
If you’re ready for a new series, consider picking up The Last Lumenian and True Teryn, both available now.
