Kale and Clementine Smoothie Recipe for a Refreshing Morning Boost

This easy, gluten-free Kale Clementine Smoothie is packed with calcium and a large dose of vitamin C—an ideal winter breakfast or snack.

Kale Clementine Smoothie

Happy New Year! If you survived the holidays, you might be craving something fresh and bright. It’s cold here in New York, and after weeks of seasonal treats, this smoothie felt like the perfect reset.

We decided to go sugar-free for the month and have been looking for simple, satisfying recipes that rely on whole ingredients. This Kale Clementine Smoothie fits the bill: it’s quick, nourishing, and naturally sweetened with fruit and a date.

Kale Clementine Smoothie

I’m usually not a big fan of smoothies in winter because they’re cold, but this one is especially welcome during the season since it delivers a generous dose of vitamin C—perfect if you feel a cold coming on. The base is simple and uses just a few ingredients, so it’s easy to make any time.

Core ingredients:

  • Kale
  • Clementines
  • Plain Greek yogurt
  • Milk (I use almond milk)
  • Medjool date

I like to add a pinch of cinnamon and a small splash of vanilla extract to enhance the flavor. For a more filling version, stir in oats, chia seeds, or a scoop of nut butter, or top the smoothie with a sprinkle of granola.

Enjoy this vibrant smoothie as a quick breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up. Cheers to a healthy and happy start to the year!
