Candy apple slices on a stick — need I say more? Fall practically demands candy apples, but a whole apple covered in candy can feel like too much. Candy apple slices solve that: just the right balance of crisp apple and sweet coating, and they’re easier to eat, share, and enjoy.

I love Halloween treats that echo candy corn — like my no-bake candy corn cheesecake on a stick or simple candy corn munch. When a recipe is quick, seasonal, and colorful, I’m all in. These candy apple slices use three candy-melt colors to get that candy-corn look without waste.

Easy Peasy Pleasy Tips

  • Trim a tiny slice from the top and bottom of the apple so the outer slices have flat surfaces on both sides — this helps them sit and dip evenly.
  • Cut each apple into five slices about 1/2 inch thick so there’s room to insert a craft stick securely.
  • Plan the counts so one bag of each candy melt color is used up without leftovers: nine slices for one color and eight for the others (for five apples total).
  • Melt candy melts according to package instructions — I use the microwave method in short intervals, stirring between heating.
  • If the melted candy is too thick, add a teaspoon or two of shortening or coconut oil to thin it slightly so it coats smoothly.
  • Completely coat each apple slice in the melted candy. Apples can weep; a full coat helps reduce visible moisture and keeps the coating intact.
  • Serve these the same day they’re made for the best texture and flavor; allow about an hour for preparation and set time.
  • The candy-corn drizzle is forgiving — the base coat doesn’t need to be perfectly smooth since the colored drizzle adds the festive finish.
  • If you’d rather not pipe with bags, you can drizzle the melted candy using a fork instead.

Candy Apple Slices

  • Servings: 25
  • Difficulty: easy

Ingredients & supplies

  • 5 red delicious apples
  • 1 bag each of white, yellow, and orange candy melts
  • 25 craft sticks
  • 3 resealable plastic bags for piping (or use a fork)
  • Wax paper for cooling

Directions

Slice each apple into five slices about 1/2 inch thick. Make a small slit at the bottom of each slice to insert a craft stick, then push the stick in so the slice sits securely.

Melt one color of candy melts at a time, following package directions. Dip nine apple slices in the first color, fully coating each slice, then place them on wax paper to harden. Repeat with the remaining two colors, coating eight slices in each color.

Reheat each color as needed and transfer to a resealable bag. Snip a tiny corner and drizzle contrasting colors over the coated apple slices to create a candy-corn striped look. Alternatively, use a fork to drizzle if you prefer.

Allow the drizzle to set, then serve and enjoy. Best eaten the day they are made.
